DA Seth Williams Under Federal Probe

A Federal Grand Jury is investigating DA R. Seth William’s political campaign financial records.  Seth’s PAC, Friends of Seth Williams, was served with subpoenas last week.  The investigation is spearheaded by the IRS and FBI.  The grand jury investigating the matter has been impaneled for over two months.

Mr. Williams’ major expenditures from his PAC account included Union League of Philadelphia dues, membership dues for the Sporting Club at the Bellevue, and $4,603.00 on cellphones.  In 2012, Mr. Williams was sued by Philadelphia Gas Works for an unpaid gas bill.

Williams first ran for District Attorney in 2005, losing in the Democratic primary.  He ran again, successfully in 2009, and was elected to a second term in 2013.  Williams is up for reelection in 2017.
